HND Fine Art Graduation Exhibition

The HND fine Art Graduation Exhibition took place this year at "The Arches project" space in Digbeth. After the the mid -year show at "The Works" gallery, a white cube space, "The Arches project" presented a completely different challenge to the first and second year students.

The venue lies underneath two railway arches which provided three spaces for exhibition. One is a  traditional gallery space, another is a huge warehouse space and for the third we created a darkened passageway linking the two. The lit archways at either end emphasising the nature of the space and the theme of the show, "Arch", a bridging from where they are now to the future at Birmingham City University.

The exhibition was a spectacular success with over 200 people attending the Private View.

The event was another "live" opportunity for the students, in keeping with the Outline philosophy of giving students real creative industry/ fine art experiences. The students formed a partnership and assigned the different roles and responsibilities to ensure the exhibition took place, exhibition spaces were researched, funds were raised to book the venue, publicity and marketing was taken care of and ultimately the work was packaged and transported to the venue.

A huge well done to all the students, some of whom appear in the photograph above, outside the entrance to the venue. Interestingly the venue is part run by one of our ex-students Antonio Hernandez Fernández. He is studying in his second year at Birmingham City University. Antonio organised a second year show for the university students at the Arches continuing the entrepreneurial attitudes encouraged by the HND team at  Outline, Birmingham Metropolitan College.
